When should I use this?

Use this guide when a guest would like to redeem a Gifted voucher as part of their payment. This may include:

  • Paying a booking deposit

  • Paying in full on arrival

  • Covering a one-off retail or service purchase

Before you start

  • Confirm what needs to be paid (deposit, balance, or full amount)

  • Have the guest’s voucher code ready

  • Be aware of your property’s voucher redemption policy


Info⚠️ Important: Always verify the voucher details before applying it to a bill.

Step-by-step: Redeem a Gifted voucher

1. Select Gifted as the payment method

  • When the payment screen loads, select Gifted

This option may also appear as Gifted Voucher or Online Journey Voucher, depending on your system configuration.

2. Enter the voucher code

  • Enter the voucher code into the search box

  • Select the voucher from the results

3. Verify voucher details

Before applying the voucher, confirm:

  • The voucher value

  • Expiry date (if applicable)

  • Any restrictions shown

4. Add the voucher to the bill

  • Click Add to Bill

The voucher value will now be applied to the outstanding balance.

5. Apply additional payment (if required)

If the voucher does not cover the full balance:

  • Select a secondary payment method

  • Take payment for the remaining amount

6. Complete the bill

  • Once the balance has been fully covered, complete the transaction as normal

Redemption complete ✅

The voucher has now been successfully redeemed and the payment recorded in EMS.

Common questions

Can a voucher be used for a deposit only?
Yes. Vouchers can be applied toward deposits, balances, or full payments.

What if the voucher value is higher than the balance?
The remaining balance will remain on the voucher for future use. 

Can I split payment between a voucher and card?
Yes. Apply the voucher first, then take the remaining balance using another payment method.
