Ecommerce Platform | How to connect to Stripe (payment gateway)

What is Stripe?

Our ecommerce platform uses Stripe as our payment gateway. Therefore, to take online payments and receive them, you’ll need to create a Stripe account and connect it to our platform. You can connect an existing account or create a new one if preferred - this is entirely up to you!

Connecting to Stripe

  • Log in to the ecommerce platform, https://admin.onejourney.travel/

  • Once successfully logged in, you will be presented with your dashboard. Here you can see the status of the payment gateway and whether it is connected or not, as shown below.

  • To connect your Stripe account, please click the ‘Connect Stripe Account’ button.

  • This will then direct you to Stripe and begin by asking for your email.

    • If you already have an existing Stripe account, then you can use the same email that is registered against that account and just connect.

    • If you are creating a new account, please enter a different email as Stripe only allows one email per account.

  • You’ll need to fill out some company information when creating a new account and also verify your identity.

    • Please make sure you do this when creating a new account, as Stripe will not allow you to take payments until your identity has been verified. This keeps your account secure and should be quite a quick process.

  • Once your account has been successfully created and connected, you’ll be directed back to the ecommerce platform dashboard, where the status should now be ‘Connected’.

  • The best way to test this connection further is by placing an order on your storefront, as outlined here.

Recommendations

Now and then, Stripe will ask you to re-verify your identity or to provide further documentation to ensure your account is secure. Therefore, please ensure that a couple of different (trusted) people in your business have access to your Stripe account, so these notifications are not missed and can be actioned as quickly as possible.

If only one individual knows the login details and has left the business when Stripe asks you to re-verify your account, then you’ll need to contact the Stripe's support team for access to the account, which can take several days to resolve.
