🔍 Summary
Association Types in Premier allow you to link two clients together (e.g., mother and daughter, husband and wife). This ensures accurate relationship tracking and makes it easier to manage linked records in the system.
❓ Likely Scenario
A user needs to link two clients (e.g., family members).
An association type has not been set up correctly, and relationships are not showing in client records.
Reverse associations (e.g., Husband ↔ Wife) are missing or misconfigured.
🛠️ Process Overview
You will first configure Association Types in Administrator and ensure reverse links are correctly paired. Then, you can allocate associations on the client record in Reception, linking clients together directly.
✅ Step-by-Step Instructions:
Configuring Association Types
- In Administrator, go to General Menu > Association Types
- On the Association Types screen
- Click the Green Plus button
- Enter a Description (e.g., Husband)
- Click the Green Tick to save
- Create the reverse association
- Click Create New
- Enter a Description (e.g., Wife)
- In Default Reverse Association, select the first association (e.g., Husband)
- Click the Green Tick to save
- Link the first association back
- Highlight the first association (e.g., Husband)

- Click the Green Tick to save
Allocating Association Types to Clients
- In Reception, click on Clients.
- Search for the client using surname
- If they exist, select from the list
- If not, create a new client record (after searching first)
- Highlight the correct client and click the Green Tick to open their Client Card
- Go to the Assoc. tab
- Click Add
- Select the Type of association (e.g., Husband)
- In Association, search for the related client using the magnifying glass icon
- Highlight the correct client and click the Green Tick
- Confirm the Reverse Association when prompted (e.g., Wife)
- Add notes if required and click the Green Tick
- The association will now appear in the Assoc. tab on both linked client records
🧠 Important Note
- Association Types must always be set up in pairs (e.g., Husband ↔ Wife, Mother ↔ Daughter)
- Clients must log in/out correctly to ensure associations are tracked across related records
